Socket Installation Precautions

1. Regarding socket installation height: if the design specifications provide specific requirements, installation must strictly adhere to them. If the design is unspecified, the following general guidelines should be observed: sockets equipped with safety shutters should be installed no lower than 0.3 meters from the floor; sockets without safety shutters should be installed no lower than 1.8 meters from the floor. It is recommended to purchase sockets equipped with safety shutters whenever possible, as the price difference between the two types is negligible.

2. In bathrooms or other damp environments, sockets with excellent sealing properties - specifically those designed to be waterproof and splash-proof - must be utilized. (Note: Sockets equipped with safety shutters feature a plastic baffle [the "safety shutter"] positioned in front of the metal contact springs within the socket, in addition to the standard socket components. For three-pin sockets, the grounding pin [which is slightly longer than the others] must enter its corresponding hole first; this action triggers an internal mechanism that subsequently opens the shutters for the remaining two holes. For two-pin sockets, both pins must be inserted simultaneously to open the safety shutters. This design serves as a safety measure to prevent young children from accidentally inserting metal objects into the socket and causing electrical accidents.)

3. During installation, the faceplate of the socket must be mounted squarely and sit flush against the wall surface. Furthermore, the wiring connections (phasing) must comply with the following standards: For single-phase two-pin sockets, when facing the socket, the right-hand or upper hole must be connected to the phase wire (live wire), while the left-hand or lower hole must be connected to the neutral wire. For single-phase three-pin sockets, when facing the socket, the right-hand hole must be connected to the phase wire (L/live wire), the left-hand hole to the neutral wire (N), and the upper hole to the ground wire (PE).
